A tradition of providing exceptional surgical and non-surgical orthopaedic care to the San Diego Community had its beginnings almost fifty years ago. The same tradition continues today at California Orthopaedic Institute by its six board certified orthopaedic physician partners. We changed our name on January 2, 2002 and moved to our new facility in April, 2002 after 22 years at University and Third Avenue in Hillcrest. Our old name conveyed our location, University Avenue Orthopaedic Medical Group.

Our new facility is at ground level with free, off-street parking. We have a patient friendly reception area, twenty one examination and treatment rooms, an on-site x-ray suite, as well as physician and business offices. We are affiliated with a number of San Diego area hospitals.

As physicians, we take pride in our commitment and the commitment of our experienced staff to provide each patient with attentive care and state-of-the-art treatment. We have expertise and experience in virtually every orthopaedic sub-specialty including: total joint replacement, arthroscopy, hand and wrist surgery, pediatric surgery, foot and ankle surgery, surgical and non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation of neck and back conditions, and sports medicine. We also offer non-surgical and surgical management of arthritis, trauma and fractures. We can also perform Qualified Medical Evaluations, Agreed Medical Evaluations, Independent Medical Exams, and Forensic Orthopaedics, in addition to handling both patient and claims administration in workers' compensation cases.
